Hi Norm! On Friday, June 14th we had taken a trip on the Middle fork of The American River. This was our second trip with California River Rafting Excitement and I just wanted to let ou know we had a great time once again. We look forward to future trips with you! Your guides (Kevin, Wade, & Sara) were organized, knowledgeable, safety-oriented and fun! Everyone in our group of eleven people had nothing but positive things to say about your company, the guides and the trip. Your office staff was also very helpful and courteous as I made reservations and in preparing for the trip in the months before. Thanks again for a great trip....we'll see ya next year! Sincerely, Stacy Fanelli, San Luis Obispo, CA

Middle Fork American River Rafting–What it's Like
The first California white water rafting rapid is "Good Morning." If you are not already awake, you will be after the first splash of cold water hits your face. Within the first few miles of the American River rafting run, you'll encounter the "Tunnel Chute." Blasted out by gold miners back in the 1800s to divert the river away from the famous Horseshoe Bend, the river is squeezed into a 12-foot cascading spillway that is 100 feet long. Then the river flows underground through a raftable tunnel. There isn't anything like it in California white water rafting!
Once it has emerged from the tunnel, the Middle Fork races over 5 miles of California white water rafting rapids, climaxing at "Kanaka Falls," a Class IV maelstrom that will test each passenger to the fullest. The river now mellows and enters the quiet side of the canyon where you'll have a chance to enjoy the scenic side of the Middle Fork American River. Rich in History of the Gold Rush of the1840s and 50s this California white water rafting river and canyon still possess some of the mines and equipment used during that era. Even today, modern gold miners are still trying to "Strike it Rich" on this American River rafting run.
Near the end of the quiet section of California white water rafting, the silence is interrupted by a deafening roar. The river now enters the "Ruck-A-Chucky Falls" section of the American River rafting trip. Here the river drops eight feet over a runnable waterfall, and then drops over a twenty-five foot, Class VI, unrunnable waterfall that has to be portaged (where passengers will have to walk around while the guides use ropes to get the unmanned rafts over the falls). Once back in the rafts, the Middle Fork American River rafting trip ends with a 3-mile rush through the most demanding part of the California white water rafting trip. Rapids like "Tightsqueeze," "Crystal," "Parallel Parking," and "Catapult" all come in quick succession.
